The Willibrordi Cathedral is the old town church in Wesel. It was built in its current appearance between 1501 and 1540 as a late Gothic basilica with five naves. The Willibrordi Cathedral has been a registered monument since 1982.

The Wesel Citadel is one of the largest preserved fortifications in the Rhineland and was built between 1688 and 1722 in the shape of a five-pointed star, with each point representing a bastion. The citadel was the core of the Wesel fortress. Today the citadel is used as a cultural center. It includes the LVR-Niederrheinmuseum Wesel, part of the Wesel City Museum, the Wesel Music and Art School and the Wesel City Archive.

As a popular excursion destination, the Auesee attracts guests from near and far to Wesel with its sports facilities. There are many activities in the natural environment: diving, swimming, surfing, sailing and beach volleyball are extremely popular. An attractive circular route (approx. 7 km) leads walkers, joggers and cyclists through the nature reserve around the lake. For those who don't like it that far, the illuminated running route on the peninsula (3.6 km) is ideal.

Wesel... "Vesalia hospitalis - hospitable Wesel". Wesel received this honorary name in 1578 and the name still says it all today. Cyclists are particularly welcome. A network of 160 kilometers of cycle paths as well as connections to various long-distance cycle paths and regional cycle routes await them.
Outdoor Activities
The Weselerwald Golf Club is located between the Lower Rhine and Münsterland in the north-west of North Rhine-Westphalia and has existed since 1988. The golf course is an 18-hole tournament course and lies with its streams and biotopes in the typical Lower Rhine landscape. The last seven holes can be described as slightly hilly, the remaining fairways have a rather flat course. The place is easy to walk.
