Half-timbered structures, fairy-tale tower and wakeboards
The outlines of the Marburg castle and the towers of the Elisabeth church are visible from afar. If these walls could talk, they would tell us a lot of interesting things about the university city of Marburg, once the place where the Brothers Grimm studied. And it is, in fact, possible, though on a different path: Enter the castle train! Let the accompanying guide treat you to stories during the two-hour trip while you look at the market square and the gables of the picturesque half-timbered old town. For a magical view, we recommend climbing up to the Romantic Spiegelslustturm, AKA the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm on the Lahnberge hills. More intense physical activity can be enjoyed outside of town: Explore the idyllic landscape by bike or on foot. The Seepark Niederweimar gives athletes the opportunity to go wakeboarding, water-skiing and swimming. If you want to let yourself float and relax, take a ride down the Lahn river on the Elisabeth II. Every visitor will find at least one thing to do in and around Marburg – we will gladly advise you in taking your pick!
