The regional park Niddaroute follows the romantic course of the river Nidda. The river rises at an altitude of over 700 m in the center of the volcanic Vogelsberg and flows into the Main near Frankfurt-Höchst after just under 100 km. The Niddaroute leads through landscapes as diverse as the Hohen Vogelsberg, which is rich in forests and water, the richly structured Lower Vogelsberg with meadows, hedges and orchards, the golden Wetterau with fields and wet meadows and finally to the Rhine-Main plain - today one of the most densely populated Cultural areas of Central Europe.

The regional park route Hohe Straße follows the historical course of an old trade route and leads as a high route through a wide landscape. You quickly feel 'far away' and closer to heaven. Spectacular views on all sides are impressive. At the same time, views of the Frankfurt skyline, the Großkrotzenburg power plant and the growing settlements in the valley reveal how close the Rhine-Main conurbation still is. In the east of the Ronneburg hill country it becomes lonely and the Hohe Straße runs through a small forest area. If you leave it, wide views will surprise you again. Büdingen used to be a bit off the old trade route, but a detour to the picturesque old town is still worthwhile today.
