Sir Herold will then invite you to take part in the hand washing ceremony following which you will be made familiar with the customs and conventions. Knaves and maidservervants will tie a large bib around your neck so that you don’t dirty your clothes. When all are ready the food and drink will be ceremoniously carried in and the banquet can begin.
